history lesson

any special reason why we have to take history lesson??
history lesson is a compulsory module for every school in every nation..it's claimed to boost the national pride...take a look..which country doesn't want to have the people to be pride of it history...and one funny thing..every nation put a claim that it has the longest history..
which nation is willing to tell its youth that its leaders are not always right...
one easy example: Mao from china
for some foreigners: he is deemed to have brought china backward during the cultural revolution. but for the china nationals: he is the national hero who have brought independence into china and the father of china.

one thing that I observe is that:
history lessons can be varied from one nation to other nation. remember that history is written by people from different nations which often to written in subjective point of view
just take one example: for the colonialised countries, the imperial powers brought sufferings to the people ie slavery. on the other side: the colonial powers saw that it was necessary to colonialise these people who are inferior to them..following the idea: "survivial of the fittest"..
most of the indepence awarded following the unrest and protests from the colonialised ppl.

so..why we have to learn history untill now?? if we know that is written in history is not always true. well for myself, i am still interested to study history..to know what happened in the past and increase the knowledge...=)
